Dermatology FAQ

Answers to the most common questions about OnSpot Dermatology — appointments, insurance, skin cancer exams, Mohs surgery, and our Florida locations.

Appointments & Booking

How do I book an appointment?
You can book online through our website 24/7, or call our office at (941) 444-0011 during business hours (Mon–Fri 8am–5pm).
Do I need an appointment, or can I walk in?
Both work. We accept walk-ins at all of our physical offices and at our mobile Derma Drive® clinic stops, based on same-day provider availability. Booking ahead guarantees your spot, but you're welcome to walk in and be seen if there's an opening.
How quickly can I be seen?
Most patients are seen within a few days. We work hard to avoid the months-long waits common at traditional dermatology practices.
Do I need a referral?
No. You can schedule directly with us — no primary care referral is needed for most services.
Do you offer telemedicine appointments?
Yes! We offer HIPAA-secure video appointments for many dermatological concerns, available to patients anywhere in Florida.
I'm too busy for a 15-minute appointment — is there another option?
Yes — telehealth. New and established patients can book a virtual visit for ongoing conditions like acne, eczema, and psoriasis, along with prescription refills and many other concerns. There's no commute or waiting room, so it's a realistic option even on a packed schedule.

Insurance & Billing

Do you accept insurance?
Yes. We accept most major insurance plans. Our staff will verify your benefits before your appointment and let you know what to expect regarding coverage and cost.
Does OnSpot Dermatology accept United Healthcare?
Yes. OnSpot Dermatology is in-network with United Healthcare plans. Call (941) 444-0011 or use our online booking to verify your specific plan coverage before your appointment.
What if I don't have insurance?
We offer self-pay rates for uninsured patients. Please call our office to discuss pricing for the services you need.
How do I pay my bill?
You can pay your bill online through our patient portal. A link is available at the top of our website under "Pay My Bill."
Will I be billed separately for lab work?
If tissue is sent to pathology, you may receive a separate bill from the pathology lab. We can provide more information about expected costs at the time of your visit.

Services & Treatments

What is a full-body skin exam?
A full-body skin cancer exam is a head-to-toe examination of your skin by a dermatology professional. The provider checks all moles, spots, and lesions for signs of skin cancer. Most exams take 15–30 minutes.
Do you perform Mohs surgery?
Yes. We offer Mohs micrographic surgery — the gold standard for treating basal cell and squamous cell carcinomas on the face and other sensitive areas. It has a 99% cure rate for primary tumors.
Can you treat children?
Yes, we treat patients of all ages for conditions like eczema, acne, warts, and skin checks.
Do you offer cosmetic services?
Yes. We offer neuromodulators, dermal fillers, and other cosmetic dermatology services. These are typically not covered by insurance.
